09.05.2009 Picture of the Moon stopt

Na zanger Michiel Borkent heeft ook lead gitarist Alex Rosenhof aangegeven zijn activiteiten in de band te willen stoppen: "Het belangrijkste is dat ik het momenteel druk heb met andere dingen, die voor mij interessanter zijn en ik wil mijn tijd liever daaraan besteden. Momenteel zit ik in drie verschillende bands en krijg nog aanvraag voor andere projecten." Omdat de andere bandleden ook druk zijn met andere activiteiten en de toekomst onzeker is, heeft de band besloten om de activiteiten stop te zetten. "Het is ontzettend jammer dat we niet verder kunnen. Er ligt goede muziek op de plank, dat wel vraagt om opgenomen te worden. Volledige motivatie is voor mij echter wel belangrijk om een project te laten slagen", aldus Rudolf Saathof, drummer. Frans Klaver (gitarist) reageert: "Ik denk dat Rudolf en ik nog niet klaar zijn met het schrijven van muziek. Wij moeten nog vorm geven aan onze ideeën, maar het materiaal dat er al ligt kunnen we niet ongebruikt laten." Sander (bassist): "Ik ben blij dat Frans en Rudolf doorgaan met het schrijven van muziek voor (een nieuwe vorm van) Picture of the Moon. Het is alleen jammer dat we niet met een volledige Picture of the Moon het materiaal dat er ligt op hebben kunnen nemen. Ik heb bijna 8 jaar bij Picture of the Moon gezeten en zou de groep willen bedanken voor alles wat we gedaan hebben. Het is een uitzonderlijke tijd geweest."

Picture of the Moon stops

After the recent departure of singer Michiel Borkent, lead guiterist Alex Rosenhof decided to stop his activities in Picture of the Moon as well: "The most important thing is that I am occupied with other projects which are more interesting for me. I'd rather spend my time on those projects. Currently I have three different bands, and requests for other projects as well." Since the remaining band members are occupied with different activities and the future is insecure, the band decided to stop. "I'm really sorry we cannot continue our activities. We've written good music that has not been recorded yet. However, fully dedication is essential for a project to succeed." says Rudolf Saathof (drums). Frans Klaver (guitar): "I think Rudolf and I cannot stop writing music. We have to shape our ideas, however, some ideas of Picture of the Moon we cannot leave unused". Sander (bass): "I am glad Frans and Rudolf will continue writing music. Unfortunately we were not able to record the music with the band. I've spent almost eight years with Picture of the Moon and would like to thank the band for everything we've done. It has been an exeptional time."

Na zeven jaar goede samenwerking heeft Michiel Borkent het besluit genomen om uit Picture of the Moon te stappen. Het is erg jammer dat we, naast zijn uitstekende stem en karakteristieke geluid, als band de gezelligheid moeten missen die hij altijd met zich meebrengt. We willen Michiel bedanken voor zijn inzet.

Picture of the Moon gaat gewoon door! Er ligt veel materiaal op de plank en we popelen om het op te nemen. De opnames worden uitgesteld totdat we een nieuwe zanger kunnen verwelkomen. We zoeken een zanger die een goede cleane zang en podiumervaring heeft. Geïnteresseerden kunnen mailen naar zanger@pictureofthemoon.net.

Michiel:
Ik wil Picture of the Moon bedanken voor alle inspiratie van de afgelopen zeven jaren waarin ik me als toetsenist en later ook als zanger heb kunnen ontwikkelen. Helaas is na vier jaar buiten Enschede te hebben gewoond, de tijd voor mij aangebroken om afscheid te nemen als bandlid. Mede door de afstand voelde ik me niet meer genoeg betrokken in het creatieve proces en kon ik niet meer de 100% geven die een band zoals POTM verdient. Ik heb de overtuiging dat de band zich na mijn vertrek verder zal blijven ontwikkelen als een zeer creatieve band met een eigen sound en wens hun het allerbeste voor de toekomst.

Picture of the Moon is looking for a singer

After a good cooperation of seven years Michiel Borkent has decided to leave Picture of the Moon. Besides his excellent voice and characteristic sound, the thing we will miss most is his good company. We want to thank Michiel for all his effort.

Picture of the Moon will continue! A lot of music has been written, and we are very excited to record it. The recordings will be postponed until we find a new singer. We are looking for a singer with a good clean voice and experience on stage. Interested? Mail to zanger@pictureofthemoon.net.

Michiel:
I want to thank Picture of the Moon for all the inspiration of the past seven years. POTM helped me to develop myself as a keyboard player and later on also as a singer. After four years of living outside of Enschede the decision came to leave the band. I didn't feel sufficiently involved anymore in the creative process and couldn't give the 100% a band like POTM deserves. I'm deeply convinced that the band will keep growing as a very creative and uniquely sounding band and wish them all the best for the future.

29.12.2007 Unfortunately, the gig of tonight in Backstage Nijmegen, is cancelled. Due to an infection Alex, our leadguitarist, is unable to play. Alex, get well soon! We wish Non-Divine good luck tonight. We hope we can play in Backstage Nijmegen some time in the near future.

09.09.2007 PRESS RELEASE: Picture of the Moon release additional song on the web. Dutch progmetal band PICTURE OF THE MOON celebrate their sixth anniversary this month. In September 2001 the band started to form on the grounds of University of Twente, Enschede (The Netherlands). To celebrate this they decided to release an additional entire song on the web from their newest effort, the EP 'Ageless Day'. The song is titled 'Black Roses' and is the opening track from the EP. 'Ageless Day' was recorded and produced by Joost van den Broek (AFTER FOREVER) in November 2006 in the Excess Studios (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and was released by Dark Balance records in June 2007. The track can be heard on their official website, their MySpace page and their Dutch profile on Hyves.

We willen Kudra Mata van harte feliciteren met hun zege vanavond in de voorronde van Oogst van Overijssel in De Stam, Almelo. We vonden het een eer dat wij geselecteerd waren om met deze voorronde mee te mogen doen en wensen Kudra Mata veel succes in de volgende ronde. Press release: Picture of the Moon introduce new lead guitarist

The progressive rock and metal band PICTURE OF THE MOON from the Netherlands introduce their new lead guitarist Alex Rosenhof. Alex already joined Picture of the Moon for their April tour when original lead guitarist Sjoerd Kolk became ill all of a sudden. "It was already planned that Sjoerd would leave the band, because of his intensive study program at the University of Twente but now things went a lot quicker than expected" clarifies Michiel Borkent, Picture of the Moon's singer and keyboardist.

"First we auditioned some guitarists who had lessons from guitar virtuosos. But now we have a guitar virtuoso," Michiel proudly says. "Already when Alex had sent us his demo mp3 I felt this was the new guy we should hire. The audition for me was the very confirmation and the next day we called Alex he could join the band. Alex managed to rehearse the complete set of Picture of the Moon material in just a few weeks, which was quite an accomplishment and just in time to replace Sjoerd during the CD Presentation in Atak (Enschede, April 14 2007)."

Sjoerd comments on his departure from Picture of the Moon: "It's unfortunate how things can work out sometimes, but there was no other option than to leave the band. Especially at this interesting time when the music is really moving on to a higher level. I wish PotM all the best and will always remain a big fan."

With Alex having a German nationality Picture of the Moon can now call themselves with right an international band.

"We hope this line up will last for a long time and we're very curious how our music will evolve from here", the members of Picture of the Moon say.

The release date of their new EP 'Ageless Day' is set for June 1 2007 and will be released with label DARK BALANCE (www.darkbalance.com).

Persbericht: Picture of the Moon introduceert nieuwe leadgitarist

De Nederlandse progrock- en metalband PICTURE OF THE MOON introduceert Alex Rosenhof als hun nieuwe leadgitarist. Alex trad al met Picture of the Moon op tijdens hun tour in april, toen Sjoerd plotseling uitviel vanwege ziekte. "Het was al gepland dat Sjoerd de band zou verlaten, vanwege zijn intensieve studieprogramma op de Universiteit Twente maar nu ging het allemaal wat sneller dan verwacht," verklaart zanger en toetsenist Michiel Borkent.

"We hebben eerst wat gitaristen op auditie gehad die les hadden van gitaarvirtuozen. Maar nu hebben we een gitaarvirtuoos," zegt Michiel trots. "Toen Alex zijn demo mp3 toestuurde voelde ik al dat we deze gast aan moesten nemen. De auditie was slechts een bevestiging van dat gevoel en de volgende dag belden we Alex om te zeggen dat hij toegelaten werd tot de band. Alex heeft het gepresteerd om in enkele weken ons hele repertoire in te studeren. Net op tijd om Sjoerd te vervangen tijdens onze CD-Presentatie in Atak (Enschede, 14 april 2007)."

Sjoerd vertelt over zijn vertrek uit Picture of the Moon: "Het is jammer hoe dingen soms kunnen lopen, maar er zat niets anders op dan de band te verlaten. Vooral nu de muziek echt een hoger niveau aan het bereiken is. Ik wens PotM alle goeds toe en zal altijd een groot fan blijven."

Omdat Alex een Duitse nationaliteit heeft kan Picture of the Moon zich nu met recht een internationale band noemen.

"We hopen dat deze line up een lange tijd stand zal blijven houden en we zijn benieuwd hoe onze muziek zich zal ontwikkelen", zeggen de leden van Picture of the Moon.

De releasedatum van de nieuwe EP 'Ageless Day' is gezet op 1 juni 2007 en zal worden uitgebracht via DARK BALANCE (www.darkbalance.com).

Gisteravond was de CD-Presentatie rondom onze nieuwe EP 'Ageless Day' in Atak Enschede. Voor ons speelden met groot succes de bands Osyris uit Duitsland en Snakes & Sirens. We kregen een hoop positieve opmerkingen over onze nieuwe EP en onze show. We willen iedereen bedanken die aan de EP en deze avond hebben meegewerkt. Met name: de support acts, de Atak crew, Joost van den Broek, Dark Balance, de fotografen, de merchandisers Maarten en Jan, gastheer Gezinus & DJ Erik en uiteraard het publiek dat aanwezig was. Wat ons betreft was het een zeer geslaagd feest!

Yesterday evening the presentation of our new EP 'Ageless Day' took place. Superb supporting acts were Osyris from Germany and Snakes & Sirens. We got a lot of positive comments on our new EP and show. We would like to thank everybody who helped us with the EP and last nights presentation. Most notably: the support acts, the Atak crew, Joost van den Broek, Dark Balance, the photographers, merchants Jan and Maarten, host Gezinus & DJ Erik and last but not least the audience that came over to watch our show. Quite a party that was!

Press release: PICTURE OF THE MOON signs EP deal with DARK BALANCE Its seems the metal world can welcome a new label: DARK BALANCE, based in The Netherlands. The label wants to support upcoming artists/bands if their quality of music is worth noticing. Since the label is all about metal without any particular subgenre, any band with some Metal roots is welcome. First release will be of the Dutch progressive Rock/Metal band PICTURE OF THE MOON. This Release is produced by Joost van den Broek (AFTER FOREVER) and contains three songs. After their appearance up to the semi-finals during the Metalbattle 2006 PICTURE OF THE MOON is getting known in the club scene in The Netherlands. Release date of the EP with the title 'Ageless Day' is set on the 1st of June 2007. On the 14th of April PICTURE OF THE MOON will present their EP in Atak, Enschede (NL). The title track of the EP can be heard on the band's website and MySpace.

A lot happened during the past few months. We found ourselves a good label to release our EP with, worked on the artwork (see the poster!), arranged a CD Release Party with some awesome support acts and more gigs are lining up in our schedule! We'll be working on a new website in the style of our new EP. So keep on checking back regularly!
